I Spit On Your Grave
Directed by Meir Zarchi
Starring Camille Keaton, Eron Tabor, Richard Pace, Anthony Nichols, Gunter Kleeman
Most of the actors in this film
Were only ever in this film,
Because they weren’t professionals
Who did this all the time.
They nevertheless had good chances
By delivering good performances,
Which still to this present day
End up looking fine.
The plot is simple and it’s focal.
A vacationing woman in gang raped by locals,
Till she’s battered and bruised and covered with cuts
And her mind is a little unhinged,
So while she heals, she comes up with a plan
To find and punish every man
In brutal and merciless ways
In her fiery quest for revenge.
Why spoil the plot? You know the plot.
Upon hearing of this movie you know the plot.
It’s not the plot itself you need to see,
But how it’s carried out.
Though this movie was made with less dollars than cents,
The director still managed to build up suspense,
And film it so well you’d be surprised to hear
Just how it all started out.
This movie was based on a real rape.
The director rescued a woman raped,
And took her to the hospital
After seeing the police.
He did not forget what he saw,
A woman with a broken jaw,
Battered and bruised and needing help,
Crying and saying, “Please”.
So he helped her out and then one day
Wrote an interesting screenplay
That remains controversial to this day,
And called it Day Of The Woman,
But that title didn’t do too well,
So it got renamed so it would sell.
I Spit On Your Grave was its new name.
Camille Keaton plays the woman.
She really does a bang-up job
And brought her talents to the job,
For she was the one professional
Actor on the screen.
I give this film a five out of six,
For this movie will get you thinking a bit.
As brutal and graphic as it is,
It’s something I’m glad I’ve seen.
