Rambo: Last Blood
Directed by Adrian Grunberg
Starring Sylvester Stallone, Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Adriana Barraza, Yvette Monreal, Joaquín Cosio
He’s not in the jungle this time, this time.
He’s not in the jungle this time.
He’s back in the good ol’ U.S.A.
In an area with much less crime.
With shorter hair, he runs a ranch,
Providing for his housekeeper and niece.
He no longer has much reason to kill,
And has been reattempting peace.
His niece is a naive young woman,
Innocent and pure.
She’s the one happy light in Rambo’s life,
A good influence to be sure.
Her friend calls her up from Mexico
And tells her she has found her dad.
She dumbly drives to Mexico,
She’s so eager to see her dad.
She has a burning question
That’s been eating at her soul.
She needs to ask her question.
The answer’s something she needs to know.
She meets her friend in Mexico,
Who takes her to see her father.
She asks him why he just ran off
And left her with her mother.
He tells her that his wife and kid
Meant almost nothing to him.
All this time in Mexico,
He’s been better off without them.
The niece is crushed and sees her friend,
Who offers words of comfort,
Then sells her into the sex trade,
To become someone else’s comfort.
When Rambo finds out, he crosses the border,
With his gun and Rambo knife.
Finds the friend and threatens her,
For her actions have changed his life.
Rambo tries to save his niece,
But things don’t go as planned,
So he spends the rest of the movie
Killing like only he can.
This movie features everything
We have come to expect
From every single Rambo film.
You can easily detect
The trauma, anger, fear, revenge,
The bullets and the stabbingsx
The killings, maimings, torture,
The pushings and the grabbings,
But mostly the determination
That puts Rambo above all others.
When it comes to dire predicaments,
It’s his attitude that covers
All of his negative, burdening thoughts
And brings him the clarity
That he will need if he’s to succeed
This attribute’s a rarity.
Will this be the last Rambo film?
It’s very possible, brother.
Sylvester Stallone gave Rambo closure,
In case he couldn’t make another.
I’m giving this movie a five out of six.
It’s great to see Rambo again.
We’re thankful for another adventure,
Filled with such adrenaline.
