Terminator 2: Judgement Day

(1991)

Directed by James Cameron

Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Edward Furlong, Robert Patrick
Rating: ******
              5.5/6

This film is one of the greatest
Sci-fi actioneers
To come out of Hollywood
In any year.

It was the biggest film,
The must-see film,
The year that it came out.
It blew away the audience,
Making them stand and making them shout.

This time two Terminators
Are sent back in time,
One to kill John and one to save John,
And Sarah’s in prison this time.

John’s mother, Sarah Connor,
Went into full survival mode,
Taking her son off grid teaching her kid
About warfare and how to code,

But then it occurred to her
That she might be able to stop
The all-encompassing Skynet,
Whose AI will eventually stop

All of humanity in its tracks,
Wiping out half of Earth’s population.
Maybe if she stopped Skynet,
She could be at her son’s graduation.

Well, she got stopped and she got caught
And now she is residin’
In a maximum security
Insane asylum.

She’s given drugs and beatings,
And sexual assaults.
They don’t believe a word she says.
Each time she speaks, they doubt.
So, her son John is on his own,
Most of the time.
His foster parents can’t control him,
And he never makes it to school on time.

Instead, he commits acts of theft
And wastes time playing games,
Oblivious to the two killing machines
That are destined to come his way.

This is a slower film than the first one.
James Cameron takes his time
Setting up the story and characters
So we will understand it all when it’s time.

When the action comes after the buildup,
We get adrenaline in spades.
And witness some of the greatest
Action scenes ever made.

The director is an anomaly
In that he’s able to take the pretend
And make it look terrifyingly real.
He’s Hollywood’s godsend.

With excellent performances,
Top level special-effects,
Bigger car chases and explosions,
And groundbreaking visual effects,

This is a film that impressed
Everyone who has seen it.
I’m giving this a five point five,
And I definitely mean it.
