The Amazing Spider-Man
Directed by Marc Webb
Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Field
Remember back in Spider-Man,
When Peter’s Uncle Ben
Was murdered by a burglar?
Well, we get to experience it again.
We get to see teen Parker
Get bitten by a bug
And turn back into Spider-Man
After giving our hearts a tug.
New to these movies, however,
Are a mention of Peter’s parents.
His father was some kind of scientist,
And evil baddies killed his parents.
Peter becomes a sleuth
In an attempt to find out more.
He has no idea, however,
Just what secrets lie in store.
Doctor Connors is involved.
He’s a good-guy scientist
Who turns into a lizard man
And throws some violent fits.
By day, the man’s an amputee,
Missing one of his arms.
By night, he’s strong and bestial,
And grows back his missing arm.
Spider-Man will have to fight him
At one point or another.
He’ll strive to protect Gwen Stacey,
Whom he hopes his foe won’t smother.
Whereas in the comics,
Gwen and Pete met while in College,
Here they attend the same high school,
And have their grades to polish.
This movie was okay,
More interesting than dull.
I’ll give it a four out of six
For being unmemorable.
